Many people do fasting to get rid of their excessive body weight but is fasting really helpful for weight loss? And also is it safe for your body and helps you in losing your body weight in a natural way? Many people go for fasting on the basis of their perceptions that fasting means no calories intake so it will help in losing the body weight. But if most of the medical experts are to be believed than fasting is not at all helpful as far as losing weight is concerned. Instead of increasing the metabolic rate to burn more calories, fasting slower downs the metabolic rate and thus there is lesser breakdown of calories that results in weight gain. If you suffer from heart problems, kidney problems, liver ailments than fasting is strictly prohibited for you.

Some people cannot control their appetite and thus find it easier to go for fasting and shed of their unwanted kilos from their body as it helps in controlling the appetite. Once you have a control over your appetite, you will come to know that the real problem was not because of your excessive adipose tissues but it was because of your appetite which led to the accumulation of adipose tissues in enormous amounts thus making you obese.

Fasting slower the metabolic rate and thus lowers your food intake. During the fasting your body consumes the internal fat at a slower rate that in turn can actually make you look fatter than before as after the fasting is over then with the intake of same amount of food that toy were already taking you will need to do more physical activity else you will put on weight and become fatter. Fasting helps you in learning how to control your desire and eat only when you will actually feel hungry, thus helping you to gain control over your bad eating habits.

So you might have understand it by now that fasting is not a magical treatment for your weight loss and if practiced in a wrong way will only add to your already existing woes and all your efforts to lose your body weight might go in vain. The best way to lose weight is by following a healthy lifestyle, maintaining a balanced state of mind and along with that one can occasionally practice fasting if they wish to do it.
